The Coach House
The Coach House is a private and exclusive space designed for Rick Caruso, housing his incredible automobile collection.
Featured in a beautiful spread of Architectural Digest, AD100 designer, Dan Fink transformed the 8,000 square foot space.
“In the main space, Fink deployed sheets of stainless steel as a sleek, sexy wainscot along paneled walnut walls. Instead of the poured-concrete floor you would expect, Fink installed a beautiful terrazzo inlaid with graphic patterns. Other details evoke the components of a car. Enormous circular hanging light fixtures suggest gears, hubcaps, or headlights. Millwork of highly polished burl wood in the library calls to mind a luxurious dashboard. Stitched details on the tailored leather barstools are reminiscent of car-seat upholstery. Gleaming Art Deco furnishings and objects also mirror the luxurious machines.
‘The whole idea was to match the elegance of these extraordinary cars,’ notes Fink. That elevated and subtle masculine playfulness extends throughout.”
Art Direction
Featuring luxurious textures and details, I was tasked with creating a branding package that would compliment the stunning space. Provided with renderings during the construction, I created branding that elicits a sense of established prestige. The door knocker symbolized a time-honored history and exclusivity of an invitation-only locale. In addition to the logo, I also created individual plaques with detailed information about each vehicle in Rick’s collection.
